Inside the Colosseo

This is the inside taken from the seond level. You can clearly see where the underground corridors would have been in the time of the romans. They've half built the wooden floor that would have covered it all so that you can see what it would have been like.

As a side note as i was going around i learned from one of the walking tours where thumbs up and down came from. At the end of a gladitor flight (which was to the death), if one yielded and asked for mercy, the crowd got to vote. Thumbs Up for live or Thumbs down for die.... never quite think of that the same now :)
